Recent delays in shipping of the “C” Wide Angle lens has resulted in the following;
The Mobius Lens C is being discontinued due to manufacturing QC issues that resulted in unacceptably low yields on lenses that meet the developer’s standards for lens quality.
A new wide angle lens, to be designated as lens C2, is now in production and will be available for vendor re-stocking in the very near future. The new lens is a little more compact and has color properties very close to the prior Lens C. It has a very slightly wider HFOV and better corner sharpness than Lens C, but cannot quite match the excellent lens flare control Lens C had. But all things considered it is a better, higher quality lens that will be sold for the same price of the prior Lens C. Lens C2 will have the same latest design circuit board back plate holding the CMOS imager with the added ribbon cable clamping socket, so it cannot be retrofitted into older cases that were not designed for this new lens module style. Be sure you have the proper case design if you are retrofitting this lens on an older Mobius.

The Mobius camera has just released the new Wide Angle “C” lens for its already fantastic little camera. The new “C” lens has a wider FOV (field of view) than the previous wide angle “B” lens. 132 degrees vs the 116 degrees of the previous lens. The lens assembly is also suppose to have better color balance. This new “C” lens will be replacing the original wide angle “B” lens. All Wide Angle camera packages shipped from this site now come standard with the new “C” lens.
How can you tell the new “C” lens from the “B”? The overall outside diameter of the lens is the same, meaning the same lens cap fits over it, but the actual glass lens is slight larger diameter; .53in (13.5mm) vs .49in (12.5mm). The outer lens ring is also thicker; .236in (6mm) vs .183in (4.7mm). The lens protrudes from the camera body the same amount as previous, this means the distance between the back of the lens and the camera body is less on cameras with the new “C” lens.
When configuring you camera make sure to select the correct lens type; Standard, “B” or “C”
Note: There has since been a new version of the “C” lens released; it is known as the “C2″ lens. The lens housing measures .205 (5.2mm) thickness and the C2 lens diameter is almost as large as the outer lens housing. More info about the “C2″ lens can be found here.

Although many of the videos were good, Terry’s Video was very nicely done and was really well suited to the small size of the Mobius camera. Shielded Mobius Case Now Available;
Based on input from a number of users in the RC (Radio Control) and Cycling markets; along with testing, we have decided to offer a shielded version of the Mobius camera. We are also offering the shielded camera housing and buttons for those that already have a Mobius camera.
Who Needs it:
Anyone using their Mobius in conjunction with another piece of electronics that may be susceptible to interference from RFI. At current, these seem to be devices that rely upon use of GPS systems; i.e. some remote control vehicles, cycling computers, navigation systems to name a few.
The video shows a side by side test of a typical UN-shielded Mobius along with a totally shielded version of the Mobius. The test on the video was performed using an Android GPS App on a GalaxyS4 phone. Actual field tests were also conducted with known problem RC vehicles and also in the cycling market where individuals were using GPS devices. Both have yielded positive results. When viewing the video, pay attention to the (3) areas circled in Red. (GPS Status, Accuracy & Bar Graph showing satellites in view and strength) Note that the “GPS status” 3D Fix drops out, “accuracy (in feet)” goes way up, and “bar graph” loses all satellites for the UN-shielded camera, but not with the shielded camera. The dramatic impact of this can change based on devices, day, location, indoors vs outdoors, cloud cover, etc.
About Shielding (the basics):
EMI/RFI (Electromagnetic Interference/Radio Frequency Interference) shielding is used to keep undesirable signals from either getting out or into a device. These signals can cause undesirable effects on the device itself or to other devices in close proximity or in the area. In simple terms, it can be thought of in relation to light. If you had a box or container that you didn’t want to have light get into or out of, you wouldn’t make it from a material that is translucent and you would want to minimize the amount of openings that the light could enter. So in the case of shielding, there needs to be an electrically conductive cage encompassing the device. Typical plastics are non-conductive and therefore don’t make for good shielded enclosures. If we could, the ideal case for the camera would be made from some sort of “metal” (ferrous or non ferrous) material; i.e. Copper, Aluminum, Steel, Lead, Brass, Nickel, etc.
What we are offering:
Our shielded Mobius consists of a special metallic coating on the inside of the housing along with the buttons. When these parts are used together, they yield the results seen in the video above by creating the electrically conductive cage mentioned above; thereby making those other devices unaffected by use in conjunction with and in close proximity to the Mobius. As mentioned, the Mobius looks the same other than the Pewter color can can also be seen when looking at the gap between the case halves.
